Incorporated in 1822, Clinton is the county seat and largest city in Sampson County. As such, Clinton has developed into a regional hub. The City's leadership is dedicated to providing its diverse citizenry a quality of life unsurpassed in the region.
Form of Government
The City operates under a council-manager form of government, whereby the Mayor and City Council address the legislative needs of the city with five city council members representing residents within distinct districts (PDF). The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to administer the overall city organization.
