Sanitation

Residential

Garbage is defined as anything from the household which is bagged and placed in a City-approved 90-gallon rollout container. The resident or landlord purchases these 90-gallon containers. Each residence may have up to two containers on a collection schedule of once per week. View map for collection day (PDF). Loose garbage, bagged or otherwise, not placed in a container will  be charged additional fee and added to the water bill.

The collection policy maintains that all containers must be curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of collection and must be removed from curbside by 7 p.m. of the collection day. This is for the safety of the general public and the protection of your property. Help us keep Clinton clean and beautiful.

Special Considerations

There are provisions for age (80 plus years of age) and handicap exemptions in the curbside collection policy. Special considerations may be provided for disabled, handicapped or elderly citizens when there is no one living in their household to assist them in rolling their collection containers to the curb. For individuals needing this assistance, you may call the Sanitation Division at 910-299-4905, ext. 3053 and request our back door collection service. This service is provided once per week and the qualification is determined on a case-by-case basis by the Public Works Manager or Public Works Director.

Commercial

Commercial businesses needing a garbage dumpster will need to purchase or lease a dumpster, The City of Clinton will dump that dumpster. They may be in sizes of two, four, six, or eight cubic yards. Please see our table of commercial rates (PDF). High compaction units are not acceptable in the policy of our program. Container service intervals are at the user's determination with city's assistance and may vary from five times per week to once per month.

Our commercial bulk customers are offered an eight cubic yard corrugated cardboard recycling container for a $30 monthly rental fee. Currently, the corrugated cardboard containers are serviced each Monday and Friday.

Yard Debris

Yard Debris and items that are not considered household garbage is collected on a different schedule.
